THE SCHOOL

School History : Mother Teresa Academy is a schoolaffiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education for the All India Secondary School Examination (Class X) and the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (Class XII).
Mother Teresa Academy came into existence on 25th December, 2007. The visionary founder Shri Dharmvir Singh realized that providing quality education would equip young people to overcome all challenges in the years to come.
The school is a co-educationalEnglish-mediumday-school, affiliated to CBSE, which provides education from Class Nursery to Class 12. At the Senior Secondary level, the school offers courses in Humanities, Commerce and Science.

Life at Mother Teresa Academy Benipur, revolves around shared commitments to intellectual growth, academic excellence, sportsmanship, art, ethical and environmental awareness and service to the community. It offers a conducive environment to boys and girls alike to nurture their talent and emerge as independent and confident young men and women.

The mission of the school is to develop the character of each student by providing superior quality education with a global perspective, fostering leadership abilities and creativity. The school provides an optimal learning environment for every student using a variety of proven instructional methods and assisted technology tools.

Under the canopy of the school motto, ‘’KNOWLEDGE VIRTUE WISDOM”, the Staff and Management of our school endeavour both to foster a spirit among the students for their appropriate growth and to imbue them with social awareness and a sense of responsibility towards the nation.

House System : To inculcate the spirit of democratic culture, the students of the school have been divided into four houses for more effective management. Co-curricular activities and sports are held amongst different houses. Such an exercise helps infuse in the students the elements of competitive spirit as well as values of co-operative work.
The Houses are Vidyapati House-Blue, APJ abdul Kalam House-Green, Sarojini Naidu House-Red, Vivekanand House-Yellow
Due recognition is given to the house that excels in discipline, academic work, sports and extra-curricular activities. Each house has at its head a House Captain who is assisted by a Vice-Captain.

Guidelines for Students :
Lunch boxes, bags, ties, belts etc. should have the child’s name clearly marked. (The school is not responsible for lost property).
Absence from school must be supported by an application for leave signed by the parent / guardian. If the absence is due to illness and exceeds more than three days a doctor’s certificate should accompany the leave application.
Half day leaves are strictly prohibited.
Any infectious disease at home requires parents to keep their ward/wards at home till the danger of infection has passed.
No parent may meet his/her child during school hours, without prior permission of the Principal / Vice Principal. No child may leave the school during school hours.
Students who accompany their parents on Parent Teacher Meetings should be in full school uniform.
If a student is suspended, he/she will not attend the school till expiry of the period of suspension.
No student is allowed to leave the school campus during school hours without permission from the Principal.
The management reserves the right to dismiss pupils whose conduct is in any way detrimental to the orderly life of the school.
Students are not allowed to disfigure or damage any school property.
Violence in any form and use of foul/abusive language is not allowed.
Students should not practice casteism, communalism or gender bias.
Students should not bring any objectionable article (such as mobile phones,ipods,CDs, pen drives, hookahs, intoxicants, etc.)
to the school.
Students breaking any of these rules may be fined or issued a warning letter/suspension.

Guidelines for parents:
Parents are requested to look into the school diary daily and see that lessons and home work assigned for the next day are done. Remarks made by teacher/school authority should be seen and counter signed regularly.
Your child should be encouraged to cultivate habitual cleanliness in all work.
Absence of your child from class for attending social functions is discouraged because it retards the child’s progress and reduces his/her interest in regular school work.
Children should do their homework by themselves. They should not be helped by parents or by tutors unless they really need it. It is important that children develop a habit of studying and working on their own.
Criticism of staff should be avoided in the presence of the child because it undermines his/her respect for the staff and the school. Should you have a legitimate complaint, please meet the Principal/Vice Principal and discuss it.
Giving presents to the staff or other demonstrations of gratitude or goodwill in their honour is not allowed.
Please do not send any gifts or eatables on your ward’s birthday, only dry candies/sweets may be distributed.
Parents are not allowed to see their children or meet the teachers during school hours.
Children who are ill should not be sent to school to attend class or take tests. Once a pupil has come to school, he/she will not be allowed to go home before time.
As the medium of instructions is English, children should be helped to follow their classes easily by a certain amount of regular conversation in this language at home.
Please see that your ward carries books and notebooks according to the Time table for that day.
Encourage your ward to take interest in studies, co-curricular activities as well as sports.
Your child may have to stay back for rehearsals in connection with Cultural Programmes or other celebrations. Prior information will be given in such cases.
Your ward should be instructed to be careful about his/her possessions. There should be a name tag on blazers and sweaters. Expensive articles should not be brought to school.
If your ward is absent from school, he/she must make up all the work missed.
Inform the school immediately if there is a change of address or telephone number.
Don’t allow your ward to drive to school if he/she does not have a licence for the same.
Parents are requested not to interfere in the internal management of the school to maintain strict discipline. However, suggestions in writing are always welcomed by the management.
